Chief of Staff

London

Lead execution behind a $1T industry shift

nettle is a fast-growing, VC-backed Insurtech building one of the most compelling real-world applications of AI: transforming how commercial insurers assess risk - 5x faster, more consistently, and at a far greater scale than ever before

We have strong product-market fit and are scaling quickly

  • $2m pre-seed raised in 2025, with a significant seed round planned for Q1 2026

  • Six-figure annual revenue with seven figures in active pipeline

  • Insurtech of the Year 2025 (Finance Awards) and European Insurtech of the Year 2025 (Guidewire Awards)

  • Live production deployments with major global insurers

  • Founding team with experience from McKinsey, QuantumBlack, Meta, Slack ,and LinkedIn

We are now hiring a Chief of Staff to work directly with the founders and take responsibility for company-wide execution as we scale:

  • You will make sure execution, decision-making, and internal operations never become the bottleneck to nettle’s growth

  • We pay top-quartile for London startups, with meaningful equity and the opportunity to lock in ownership ahead of our upcoming seed round.

  • As nettle scales, high performers can progress into senior functional or general management leadership roles, including SVP or C-level positions aligned to their strengths

The Role

This is a high-trust leadership role at the centre of the company.

As Chief of Staff, you will act as an extension of the founders, owning the company’s most important priorities and ensuring they move forward quickly and effectively.

This is a builder role, not an advisory one. You will be personally accountable for outcomes, not just recommendations, and will move from influencing decisions to owning results.

You will operate across strategy, go-to-market, product, and operations, with a clear mandate to drive pace, alignment, and leverage.

What You Will Do

  • Ensure the company’s most important priorities are executed quickly, and that internal operations and decision-making never slow down growth

  • Own and drive founder-priority initiatives from problem definition through to real outcomes

  • Lead strategic work including market analysis, pricing, customer segmentation, and expansion planning

  • Build and own senior relationships with enterprise customers across pilots, rollouts, and strategic discussions

  • Translate customer and operational insights into clear product direction

  • Shape and scale teams, processes, and operating cadence as the company grows

  • Own preparation of board materials, investor updates, and fundraising workstreams

  • Act as the operating glue across product, engineering, and commercial teams, with authority to unblock and drive follow-through

  • Proactively identify gaps, risks, and bottlenecks, and implement practical solutions

This role will evolve rapidly as nettle scales. Success is defined by impact, not a fixed checklist.

What Success Looks Like

  • Within 3 months, you are independently owning multiple company-critical initiatives

  • Within 6 months, you are a trusted thought partner to the founders and a known quantity with customers and investors

  • Within 12 months, you are helping shape how nettle operates and scales as a business

Growth and Trajectory

This is a Chief of Staff role with scope and responsibility increasing materially as nettle scales.

Progression is driven by impact and readiness, not tenure.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Experience in a top-tier, high-performance generalist environment, such as MBB consulting

  • Strong problem-structuring and analytical skills, with comfort operating in ambiguity

  • A high ownership mindset, with a bias toward action and execution

  • Comfortable being personally accountable for outcomes, not just ideas

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, able to engage credibly with senior stakeholders and enterprise customers

  • Willing to get hands-on, build from first principles, and do what it takes to move the business forward

  • Strong interest in technology and AI, and the ability to connect technical concepts to business outcomes

  • Able to work at least 4 days per week onsite in our Shoreditch, London office

Prior experience in insurance is not required. Judgment, learning speed, and drive matter more.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience

  • Meaningful equity in a VC-backed company with category leadership potential

  • Brand new Shoreditch office with gym access, great coffee, and weekly team lunches

  • Full health insurance, pension, learning budget, and regular team offsites

  • Daily exposure to founders, investors, and global Fortune 500 enterprise customers
