About the Role
Nettle is building the AI platform that’s redefining how the world’s largest commercial insurers assess and manage risk. It starts in the field: surveyors walk industrial sites capturing photos, audio, and notes through our mobile apps, often in places with no signal. Everything downstream – the AI processing, the reports, the product – depends on that capture working flawlessly.
We’re hiring a Mobile Engineer to own both native apps, iOS and Android. You’ll build the capture flows, the offline-first sync, and the background uploads that make our surveyors trust the app with a full day’s work in a warehouse basement. You’ll be the mobile owner on the team – full autonomy over both platforms, working directly with our backend engineers and CTO.
What You’ll Accomplish
Own both native apps. Swift on iOS, Kotlin on Android. You ship features across both, keep them in sync, and run the release process end to end.
Make capture bulletproof. Camera, audio recording, file handling – surveyors depend on this in the field, with no second chances. If it didn’t save, the site visit is wasted.
Build offline-first sync that just works. Local storage, conflict handling, background uploads on flaky connections. The app has to work in a basement and sync perfectly when signal returns.
Own quality across both platforms. Testing, crash monitoring, performance. You’re the last line of defence before an app update reaches every surveyor in the field.
Use AI to scale yourself. We run lean and use AI tools daily to operate at a level that shouldn’t be possible for a team our size. Owning two platforms solo is realistic here because of how we work.
What We’re Looking For
Must-haves:
3+ years of mobile experience with production apps in both Swift and Kotlin
Experience with offline storage, data sync, and background tasks
Comfortable owning both platforms solo – you don’t need a platform counterpart to ship
Clear communicator in English
Nice-to-haves:
Experience with camera, audio, or media-heavy apps
Apps used in field/industrial settings with poor connectivity
Familiarity working against Django/REST backends
How We Work
We’re a small team that ships fast and holds each other to a high bar. We use AI tools daily to move faster than teams 5x our size. This role is fully remote from Poland on a B2B contract, working closely with our London-based team.
Compensation & Benefits
20,000–27,000 PLN/month + VAT, depending on experience
B2B contract, fully remote (Poland)
Interview Process
Screening (30 min) – a technical conversation with one of our engineers about your background and experience
Culture + background (45 min) – a deeper conversation with our CTO about your career, your experience, and how you work
Take-home technical assessment (a few hours async + 30 min discussion) – a short piece of real technical work covering both Swift and Kotlin, followed by a conversation walking through your results and output
Paid trial week (1 week, paid) – work with us on real problems for a week, the best way for both sides to know it’s a fit
