Nettle wins InsurPitch London 2025

LONDON, July 31, 2025 – Nettle, an AI-powered risk assessment and report generation platform for commercial insurers, has been named the winner of Guidewire's InsurPitch 2025 London competition. The event, sponsored by PwC and hosted at Blueprint London on 26 June, brought together five insurtech finalists from Guidewire's Insurtech Vanguards programme to pitch in front of a panel of industry judges and a room of nearly 100 insurance executives, investors, and peers.

Jack Miller, Co-Founder and CEO of Nettle

"Winning InsurPitch is a signal that the problem we are solving resonates with the people closest to it. Risk engineering capacity is one of the defining challenges of the next decade in commercial property insurance, and the judges and audience clearly felt the same. We're grateful to Guidewire for the platform and to every one of the insurers and peers who engaged with our pitch."

InsurPitch is Guidewire's live pitch competition, run across multiple cities throughout the year to spotlight insurtechs solving urgent problems in the P&C industry. The London edition featured five-minute pitches from each finalist, followed by Q&A with a panel of five judges, with attendees also casting live votes via a mobile poll.

The judging panel comprised Melissa Collett (CEO, Insurtech UK), Christian Kitchen (CIO, Travelers Europe), Matthew Wolff (Principal of Technology & Transformation, PwC), Eric Apse (Senior Director of Alliances, Guidewire), and Tony Cronin (Director of Product Management, Guidewire). The evening was hosted by Laura Drabik, Chief Evangelist at Guidewire.

Nettle's winning pitch centred on the structural capacity crisis facing commercial property risk engineering. With over 40% of property risk engineers in the UK and Europe set to retire within the next five years, and training a new engineer taking roughly two years and significant investment, carriers are under growing pressure to write more business with fewer experts. Nettle's platform automates large parts of the risk engineering workflow so that engineers can focus on the judgment only they can provide.

As the winner of InsurPitch London, Nettle has secured a featured spot at Guidewire Connections in Las Vegas later this year, where the team will demo the platform to a wider audience of P&C insurers.

Nettle allows risk engineering and underwriting teams to:

  • Instantly enrich client data from underwriting systems with tailored insights from NatCat, web, standards, loss history, and more

  • Analyse images, voice notes, and documents collected on-site via an intuitive mobile app

  • Automatically complete inspection surveys, risk scoring, and recommendations using Nettle's bespoke AI, generating comprehensive risk reports in one click

  • Analyse risk reports in any language and format to extract key insights in seconds
